I’ve put the workflow on box.net and you should see a link to it in the widget on the right (called ) So every time I need to do this I just select the jpg type the short cut and the magic is done. So I made a little work flow and set up a Quicksilver trigger. So I got the trusty Automator out and was about to play with that – and found it had the option to apply a “colorsync profle” All that searching and apple had already supplied a utility to do what I wanted :).

So how to convert? Much web searching and confusion, I found some possible options using ImageMagik on the command line. cmyk is a colour encoding option acorn only outputs rgb. So I had to learn quickly what 300dpi / cmyk meant. We assessed various options for printing cards and OvernightPrints seemed to offer the best compromise of quality and price. It’s quite a simple editor, and for me that’s great because I find the learning curve for GIMP and the like to be just too big when I only edit images once a year or so. We didn’t get business cards from them because there are so many members who obviously each need a card set up for them.

They wanted to get some business cards for members, so got a logo developed professionally using the Logo By Logo service (who were great, I’d recommend them). I maintain the website for them and help out with technical stuff. My husband in the treasurer for the Air Safety Group.

It is a slightly cumbersome workaround – but unless all the mapping applications sign up to a common format there isn’t really any other option This can be saved wherever convenient, and imported into iMindMap! The path to mindmanager2mm.xsl varies depending on the version of FreeMind installed (I have a beta of 0.9.0).Ī freemind version of the file is then opened. It then gets the selected item in Finder and runs:Ĭat "$1" > /tmp/temp.xml & xsltproc -output /tmp/out.mm /Applications/Freemind.app/Contents/Resources/Java/accessories/mindmanager2mm.xsl /tmp/temp.xml & open /tmp/out.mm Touch /tmp/temp.xml & touch /tmp/out.mm & rm /tmp/temp.xml & rm /tmp/out.mm The workflow clears away any the temporary working apps by running:

I have set up a Quicksilver trigger (a global shortcut) to run an Automator workflow (available for download on the right). I loose the images in the process, but the text is there, which is the main thing. So after much fiddling and some hints from This blog I have a solution to get my maps out of Novamind and into iMindMap. Novamind can export into OPML and MindManager XML, but iMindmap and Freemind won’t open either of these directly.

iMindmap doesn’t export into any map format so once a map gets there it is kind of stuck (although it does export into Word and pdf formats amongst others). They can all open/import Freemind maps so the maps I create on the move can be imported at the least. Unfortunately there isn’t a clean and simple way to convert between all these applications, as there is no defacto standard. I even flirt with Freemind occasionally as iThoughts my favourite mapping application for the iPhone syncs with box.net in that format. I like to mindmap, but my favourite application for mapping does switch between Novamind and iMindMap.
